It’s Thursday Throw Down time!
This month’s Thursday Throw Down is all about teaching poetry with song lyrics. While it isn’t a brand new or revolutionary idea, I absolutely canNOT imagine teaching poetry concepts with plain old vanilla poetry. As a student, I never enjoyed poetry, and I’m determined not to bore my students to death during the entire unit!
To be honest, I never enjoyed poetry until I taught a poetry unit for the second time. What was the poem that I taught that made me fall in love with poetry? How about YOU tell ME! Comment below with the name of the poem (it’s a classic!) and the first person to guess correctly will win a copy of my newest product, Interactive Poetry Notebooks. And if you’ve already purchased it, I’ll upgrade you to the hard copy. One guess per person, please.
I’ll give you a hint. Last time I taught it, I paired it with a contemporary song that had a similar storyline and theme. The song I paired it with was Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss.
And now back to Thursday Throw Down. I just uploaded a free bonus lesson for Interactive Poetry Notebooks!
The rest of this lesson is found in the free download through TpT.
After you download the freebie, come back and link up your blog post about making learning more interactive! It can be about anything interactive, such as manipulatives, music, dance, grouping. activities, technology, or of course, interactive notebooks!
And last but NOT least, you’ll want to come back on Saturday for a HUGE event! My blog is turning one, and I’m celebrating with 7 days of prizes galore, DAILY freebies, and flash sales! Don’t forget to comment with your guess as to my favorite poem to teach!
