Last week, I shared what I’m doing with my 6th graders for October/Halloween, so if you missed it, be sure to check that out here.
I introduced my 8th graders to Edgar Allan Poe with an A&E Biography and Active Listening Worksheet I downloaded free on TpT.
We’ve already talked about tone, but I added mood to the mix last week and we discussed the differences between the two. I’ll be double-dipping with this story and focusing on both mood and tone and the three types of irony with The Tell Tale Heart.
I purchased a Tell-Tale Heart Mood & Tone lesson on TpT last week and was really thrilled with the quality and thoroughness of it. I’ll be using it when we read the story to analyze mood and tone.
My 8th graders will also complete my interactive notebook pages on Types of Irony (available free through TpT) since the story includes examples of the different types of irony. Up until this week, my students have only learned about irony as situational irony.
After all of that hard work, my students will get to enjoy this animated version of The Tell-Tale Heart.
I’ve got one more lesson for Halloween to share with you later this week.
