So, I finally got into my classroom this weekend to start getting my decorating done, and I realized something. Deciding to completely redecorate my room and make it new and fresh actually serves a very.. umm.. ominous purpose. It’s keeping me from adding all of my new classroom library books to my software and printing labels for them, dragging my heavy literature books down from the shelves and putting them in the student desks, and all of those other mundane tasks that I’ll have to do to get ready for the year. Official teacher inservices start August 12th and the students start August 14th. Oh, and Back to School Day is on August 7th. I’d better get a move on!
Anyway.. let’s worry about the mundane later and get to the fun stuff! PHOTOS! I’m absolutely THRILLED with the way my book-cupcakes came out!
I decided to only show photos of parts of the book covers so that the students would have to wonder and guess at what each book is. These are books that are popular with my students, but just as they did with the apps that were up before the cupcakes, they’ll ask about these books for sure.
Here are a few more close-ups.
I’m still happy to share my book-cupcakes I made if you’d like them – just shoot me an email. I can’t post them because of copyright infringement with the book covers, but sharing from one teacher to another is *totally* under the fair use guidelines, right?
It is a TOTAL fantasy of mine to get that ugly yellow brick-cinderblock-whatever wall painted, but for now I’m just happy they finally painted my trim last year.
Aaaand one more thing to show off – a couple of weeks ago I wrote about my Teacher’s Toolkit and the frustration/disappointment over the ugly back. Well, I solved that problem with an assertive little notice since it sits on my desk in the back of my room.
In case you missed it (or didn’t just figure it out) I absolutely can’t stand when my students touch, fondle, or borrow (ha!) items from my desk. You already know that I share supplies with my students. But not the stuff on my desk.
And one last thing for today – be sure to get your Thursday Throw Down posts ready! This monthly link-up will take place tomorrow (Thursday, August 1st) and include lots of ideas for making your lessons interactive for your students! I’ve promised a new clipart freebie for everyone who links up, and I’ll also have a new middle grades reading freebie for everyone who stops by. Yee haw!
